Archie Rutherford, 93, of San Saba, passed away Friday, May 30, 2008 in Abilene, Texas. Archie was born April 19, 1915 in San Saba County, the son of Dee Rutherford and Balzora Whitley Rutherford. On June 1, 1940, Archie Rutherford and Winnie Mae Barker were married in San Saba County. Winnie preceded him in death on March 4, 2005. He was a member of the Lions Club, a supporter of the New Horizons organization, and a member and deacon of the First Baptist Church in San Saba for many years.

He is survived by one daughter, Gay Woodruff and her husband, Don, of San Saba; two granddaughters: Jill Lawson and her husband, John, of Grand Prairie, TX; and Ginger Stafford and her husband, Brandon, of Grand Prairie; three great-grandchildren: Austin Barclift, Macie Lawson, and Judson Stafford, all of Grand Prairie; one sister, Vada Johnson of San Saba; and several nieces and nephews.

Archie was preceded in death by his parents, Dee and Balzora Rutherford; wife, Winnie Rutherford; one brother, Clyde Rutherford; and one sister, Ellen Randolph.

Funeral services were held Monday, June 2, 2008 at the Howell-Doran Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Riley officiating and Rev. Sam Crosby assisting. Interment followed at the San Saba City Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to the donors' choice.
