The "Perfect Season" capped with Superbowl Championship
Thursday, November 4, 2010 • Posted November 4, 2010

The Richland Springs Coyote flag football team won the Six-Man Pee Wee Football Associations "Superbowl Championship" this past Friday in Zephyr, Texas. The Coyotes finished the season with a perfect 8-0 record! The Coyotes tangled with the Blanket Tigers for the championship. The Coyotes won the coin toss and elected to start on offense. They quickly got ahead of the Tigers and never looked back! With some great blocking up front, the little Coyotes opened a hole for Landon Burkhart on 4th down and long. Burkhart scrambled 40 yards for the first Coyote touchdown. The extra point was good when Chase Gossett hooked up with Landon Burkhart on a great throw and catch. Blankets first possession was stuffed by the great Coyote defense. Blanket went for a 4th down try, but they could not convert, because of the Coyotes speed. Keston Lusty, Brandon Stewart, Cohen Tharp, and Lane Garcia were giving the Tiger offense fits all day long. The Coyotes took over possession and it didn't take long for the Coyotes to find pay dirt again. Jaden Bryant blew by the Tiger defenders for a 12 yard TD run. A nice run by Landon Burkhart added the extra point and the Coyotes were rolling 16-0. Blanket answered with a 35 yard TD run to cut the score to 16-8. Once again, great blocking and great running was the tune all day. This time with only 9 seconds left in the half, the Coyotes scored again on a Landon Burkhart 10 yard run. The half ended with the Coyotes leading 22-8. Blanket opened the second half with a 50 yard TD run. Great effort by Chase Gossett and Matteo Faircloth chasing the runner, but the Tigers scored before they could pull the flag. The Coyotes answered right back. Matteo Faircloth set the Coyotes up with a long run. Faircloth did a great job following his blocks all the way down to the 10 yard line. Jaden Bryant got the call again and shot the corner for the Coyote touchdown. The PAT failed and the Coyotes went up 28-14. Blanket added a 10 yard TD of their own to make the score 28-20. The Coyotes sealed the deal when Jaden Bryant scored on a 5 yard TD run. Landon Burkhart added the extra point to make the score 34-20. Blanket added a late score, but it was too late. The Coyotes claimed the Superbowl Championship with a 34-28 win. Every player did a great job each and every week this season and with hard work it all paid off. The players for the Coyote Flag football team this year were: Chase Gossett, Matteo Faircloth, Brandon Stewart, Jaden Bryant, Keston Lusty, Lane Garcia, Cohen Tharp, and Landon Burkhart. Coaches were: Casey Gossett, Charlie Tharp, Armando Garcia, and Wes Bryant. Great job guys! Thank you to the outstanding players and Thank you to our dedicated coaches!
