Eugene A. Walker, 101, of Cherokee, Tx, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010.

Eugene was born September 23, 1909, to James Allen Walker and JoDella Walker in Cherokee, Tx. Eugene and Mildred Walker were united in marriage on November 26, 1936. He was preceded in death by her on August 19, 1985. Eugene and Roxie Walker were married in June of 1991, in Buchanan Dam, Tx.

Eugene was a Director of Wildlife Services for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. He also served in the European Theater, 76 Infantry Division of the United States Army from 1942-1945.

Eugene is survived by his children, Kenneth Walker, Mary Catherine Holley and husband John; his wife, Roxie Taylor Walker; stepson, Cary Taylor; grandchildren, Corby Walker, Matt Holley, Carl Holley, Kyle Walker, Robert Holley; great grandchildren, Carsyn, Cooper, Ryann, Luke, Savanna, Sawyer, Gene, Justice, and nephew Steve Walker.

Eugene is preceded in death by his parents James Allen and JoDella Walker; his brother, Ralph Walker, and wife Mildred McKneely Walker.

Services wereheld Thursday, October 21, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church of Cherokee with Jimmy Shook officiating.

Interment was at Cherokee Cemetery.
