Thursday, October 21, 2010 • Posted October 21, 2010

The San Saba High School Golden Armadillo Band under the direction of Brian Sours, assistant director Shawn Messer, and color guard coordinator Lauren Shero performed at the annual UIL Marching Assessment in Brady on October 16. The band is assessed using a standardized rubric that outlines musicianship, marching, tone quality, and various other aspects of marching band. There are three judges, and each judge gives the band a rating and then the ratings are put together to form an overall composite rating. The rating system for UIL Marching Contest is as follows: 1 (superior) 2 (excellent) 3 (average) 4 (below average) 5 (poor).

The San Saba High School Band received a composite rating of a division I (superior) rating! This is the first time the San Saba High School Band has received a division I (superior) in marching band in five years!

This accomplishment comes just months after the band received a division I (superior) at Concert & Sight-Reading for the first time in three years earlier this spring. The San Saba band program continues to improve daily with our new found sense of pride and dedication. Please congratulate the bands students on their continued success.
