Thursday, October 21, 2010 • Posted October 21, 2010

The Richland Springs Junior High Coyotes took advantage of 7 fumbles by the Lohn JH Eagles, recovering 4, at Coyote Field last Thursday evening. The fledgling Eagles never could get their offense out of the nest, as the Coyote defense seemed to have all the answers on this night.

Storm Teel took the first play from scrimmage to paydirt with a nice run, with a great cut block by Jacob Cohn and a beautiful cutback, Teel goes 55 yds to set the table for the evening. Cohn, with some nice moves and several broken tackles, added the point after to make it 7-0 with only a few seconds elapsed in the first quarter. The Co-Captains, Teel and Cohn, were decidely the key players on offense and defense, but tonight it was the 6th graders time to gain experience. Brandon Ferguson had two nice runs, one for a touchdown, a very nice catch for a first down, and a fumble recovery. Anthony Holt had two catches and a nice run and was a beast on defense recording several solo tackles. Jeremy Martin did an excellent job handling the snapping duties and Peyton Sloan and Tarrin Ballin gained valuable experience on both offense and defense. Storm Teel had the one Td and several other nice runs, along with several pinpoint passes to keep the sticks moving on offense, and added several tackles and a fumble recovery. Jacob Cohn had two touchdowns, both on nice runs, reversing directions and breaking tackles, a nice catch and run to set up another touchdown, and gathered up two of the Eagles fumbles.

The Coyotes faced their second team this year that has featured a young lady on their team, and both girls have proven very capable players. The Coyotes now are 4-2 on the year and heading to Brookesmith this Thursday evening.
