Thursday, October 21, 2010 • Posted October 21, 2010

San Saba Elementary will observe Red Ribbon week October 25th through 29th. Some of the activities include:

Monday - Wear RED to celebrate the beginning of Red Ribbon Week.

Tuesday - Wear your craziest hair style to be an individual.

Wednesday - Wear your best Cowboy/Cowgirl getup to STOMP out drugs.

Thursday - Wear your favorite hat and sunglasses to put a lid on drugs and look cool while doing it.

Friday - Wear your favorite college paraphernalia day. Don’t forget about the early release at 12:40.

Red Ribbon Week is the oldest and largest drug prevention campaign in the country. Although the start and end dates can vary slightly depending on the organization and source, Red Ribbon Week generally takes place the last full week in October.

Red Ribbon Week serves as a vehicle for communities and individuals to take a stand for the hopes and dreams of our children through a commitment to drug prevention, education, and a personal commitment to live drug free lives with the ultimate goal being the creation of a drug free America.

And, perhaps more importantly, Red Ribbon Week commemorates the ultimate sacrifice made by DEA Special Agent Enrique "Kiki" Camarena, who died at the hands of drug traffickers in Mexico while fighting the battle against illegal drugs to keep our country and children safe.
