Tommy Joe Yates of Kingsland, Texas passed away October 13, 2010 at the age of 81 years old. He was born April 23, 1929 in Temple, Texas to Lillian (McCoury) and Mack Yates. He married Jane (Fowler) Yates on August 31, 1948 in Llano, Texas; she preceded him in death September 18, 1996. Tommy was a rancher and lifetime resident of San Saba & Llano County; he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Llano and attended Kingsland Community Church.

Survivors include son, Ronnie Yates & wife Glena of Horseshoe Bay, TX; two grandchildren, Ron Yates of Austin, Texas and Kara Y. Dudley & husband James of Horseshoe Bay, TX; one nephew Reverend W.Y. (Bill) Fowler IV, of Austin, TX and companion Janet Herrington of Kingsland, TX.

He was in state Thursday, October 14, 2010 from 3:00-9:00 P.M. at Waldrope-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home, Llano. Graveside service were was at the Llano City Cemetery, Friday, October 15, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Tommie Beck and Reverend W. Y. (Bill) Fowler, IV officiating.

Honorary Pallbearers included Alvin Hay, Trey Wilson, Mark Stephenson, Paul Broyles, Nathan Garrett and Ed Auler.

Memorials may be given to the Cherokee Children’s Home, P.O. Box 295, Cherokee, TX 76832; Kingsland Community Church, P.O. Box 627, Kingsland, TX 78639 or CASA for the Highland Lakes, 1719 Ridgeview, Kingsland, Texas 78639.
