The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met September 30, 2010 for the monthly business meeting, as several of the members will be out next week attending the Senior Women’s Amateur Golf Tournament in Glen Rose, Texas. The President, Anita Miles, called the meeting to order and the meeting was opened with prayer by Hattie Rogers. The Secretary, Jo Anne Hardy, read the minutes and they were approved with the correction of the date of the traveling 4-ball for October. The Treasurer, Bobbie Churchill, gave the financial report. Other members present were Becky Hardin, Hattie Rogers, Jo Ann Snow, Dorothy Sterner, Sandee Hartley, and Janet Hoyt. The Traveling 4-Ball Chair, Sandee Hartley, announced that the next event will be October 21, 2010 at Fredricksburg, Texas. The Treasurer announced that she had not made the donation to the Cancer Relay for Life and it was decided to send it in to the American Cancer Society. The President announced that the Ladies Association has received a very generous donation in memory of Vivian McCall from a classmate, Oma Jean Hutson of Sunrise Beach, Texas. This was greatly appreciated by the ladies as Vivian always entered the tournaments and was a great golfer and friend. The meeting was adjourned for play with the Chair for September, Hattie Rogers, calling for a game of even holes less half your handicap. First Place went to Janet Hoyt who also scored the Low Net for the day, and there was a tie for second place between Hattie Rogers and Becky Hardin, and third place went to Anita Miles who also scored the Low Gross for the day. Three ladies, Hattie Rogers, Sandee Hartley, and Becky Hardin, all chipped in to split the chip in pot! Pat Ribb once again came out for fun and lunch and she even ventured to hit a ball off the tee. I think even with the pain it was worth it, as she has missed her golfing so much as we have missed her. It was a beautiful fall day and now the ladies look forward to the Texas Senior Ladies Tournament and we are hoping for winners! It’s a great time in life to still be "swinging!"
