People everywhere are talking about the nice cool nights and mornings, you can really feel that Fall is here to stay. Great relief from all the heat. No rain this past week. Another sad Saturday for the Longhorns and Jerome and Shirley Meischen, as the Longhorns lost to Oklahoma in Dallas. They have not given up and will be cheering them on next Saturday when they play Nebraska. Their grandson Blake Gideon still has faith that they will win that game.

The group meets at Big Bad Bob’s Bait Shop in Bend are still meeting every Sunday afternoon to play. Some have said that the band is really getting good. A good place to be if you like music.

This past weekend Rufus and Tommye Cobern had as visitors the grand kids and great grand kids. Visiting from Huffman was Lorie and Oscar Williams and

daughter Christianna, Adam and his two daughters’ Kamron and Kadance, his wife Becka wasn’t able to come because of an illness. Kort and Morgan Marley of The Woodlands along with Tanya and daughter Chalfant of Cedar Park also was in over the weekend. The families enjoyed lots of good food, games, visiting and riding on the mule.

Lola Morris enjoyed a visit from Scott and George Anna Ellis from California and friend Jean Sargent this past week. The Ellis family was on their way to Florida and was visiting Jean Sargent in Lampasas. They came to the Bend to visit the Bend Cemetery and Lola. The families had a good visit.

Saturday at the Central Texas Telephone annual meeting in Goldthwaite the Bend was well represented. Some of the faces in the crowd were Dickie Eckhoff, LaNell Daniels, Lola Morris, the Grady Gibson family, Leon and

Mebbie Eckhoff, Bill and Jo Price. There may have been more but that was the most obvious ones. Not one of the group was lucky enough to get one of the

many gifts that was given away, but did enjoy the fried fish lunch.

Gladys Wallace passed away Saturday in Temple. She had blood clots and was in Scott and White hospital for treatment at the time of her death. She will be greatly missed by her family and many friends.

Sunday Amanda Morris and her grandmother Lola Morris enjoyed lunch with other granddaughter Jamie and her husband Dave Garrett at the County Seat restaurant in Lampasas.

Happy birthday greetings go out to Raymond Hicks, Joshua Anderson and Keith Lemons who will celebrate their birthday Friday, October 8, to Carol Rockafellow who will celebrate her birthday October 9, Cody Herd who will celebrate his birthday October 13.

Congratulations go out to Tommy and Mitzi Pulatie who will celebrate their anniversary October 11.
