San Saba Bird and Nature Club to hold Bird-A-Thon
Thursday, October 7, 2010 • Posted October 7, 2010

The San Saba Bird and Nature Club is interested in supporting our city parks and increasing nature tourism by enhancing birding opportunities in our community. This in turn supports local merchants who provide meals, lodging, and shopping for visitors.

On October 10, 2010 the San Saba Bird and Nature Club is having a Bird-A-Thon.We are doing this in conjunction with a birding event called The Big Sit! This is an event in which you create a real or imaginary circle 17 feet in diameter and sit inside the circle for 24 hours, counting all the bird species you see or hear. We’ll be having our Big Sit! in one of our member’s yards and the bird-a-thon part of it is a fundraiser for our newly formed club.

The team’s goal is to identify 75 species and we need your help! Your support will motivate our birders throughout the long day and will help us create better birding opportunities for residents and nature tourists. You or your business can help by pledging any amount from 25 cents to $5.00 per bird species identified. Your support will motivate our birders throughout the long day and will help us create better birding opportunities for residents and nature tourists.
