"As I was passing out fliers and talking to businesses in San Saba last week about our upcoming Food Drive," said Claudia Morrow from Central Texas Telephone Cooperative, "several people wanted to know why the Food Drive was called the Cindy Hayes Memorial Food Drive." Mrs. Morrow continued to say, "Central Texas Telephone Cooperative and Central Texas Communications are always looking for opportunities to assist our communities through securing grants for economic development, donations to school and community events and monetary contributions where needed. They realized that there was a tremendous need to assist families in our communities. Cindy Hayes, Marketing Director for CTTC, was responsible for developing the community Food Drives."

"10 years ago, the first San Saba County Food Drive was held in the parking lot of CTTC’s San Saba Office

This year marks the 10th year for the Food Drive in San Saba and the need is greater than it has ever been.

Please plan to bring non-perishable items on Friday, October 15th to the Court House Square. Cash donations are also welcome. There will be free sausage wraps and drinks from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM. Everyone that brings food to the Food Drive will be eligible to register for one of the many door prizes the businesses in San Saba County so graciously donate every year. KNUZ radio and Wayne Gatliff will broadcast from 10 AM – 1 PM.

Help us make the 10th Annual Cindy Hayes Memorial Food Drive the biggest and the best ever for San Saba County!

With the economy the way it is has been, hundreds of families are suffering and need our help to feed their families.
. As it grew over the following years, it was moved to the Courthouse square so it would be more convenient for everyone. A couple of years later, Mrs. Hayes was diagnosed with cancer and lost a four-year battle with the disease. At that time, as a tribute to her, we changed the name to Cindy Hayes Memorial Food Drive."
