Indians Blast Patriots

The Cherokee Indians are on a 2-game winning streak after taking out the Comanche Paradigm Patriots, 58-8. The Indians treated the standing-room-only homecoming crowd to their first mercy rule victory of the season.

After holding the Patriots on their first possession, the Indians scored on their first carry of the game on a 13 yard run by Tucker Corsi. The PAT hit the upright and bounced off wide right. Josh Brown scored the next TD for the Indians on a 39 yard run. Corsi kicked the PAT. Corsi scored the Indians’ third TD of the 1st quarter on a 35 yard run. The PAT failed. Cherokee led 20-0 at the end of the quarter.

Corsi scored early in the 2nd quarter on a 52 yard run. Cham Fox kicked the PAT. Corsi scored again midway through the quarter on a 42 yard run. Fox added the PAT to put the Indians up 36-0. The Patriots only score of the game came on an 11 yard run with 1:14 remaining in the half. The PAT was good. The Indians led 36-8. Logan Lopez took the ensuing onside kick and returned it 40 yards for an Indian TD. Fox booted the PAT to put the Indians up 44-8 at halftime.

Homecoming festivities at halftime saw the crowning of Sara Thomas as the 2010 Homecoming Queen, Sara Perry was honored as Princess, and Sammi White was voted Football Sweetheart by the football team. Tucker Corsi was voted by the Pep Squad as their Beau.

Just less than 2 1/2 minutes into the 3rd quarter, Corsi scored his fifth touchdown of the night on an 11 yard run. Fox kicked his fourth PAT to put the Indians up 52-8. The Indians stopped the Patriots’ next possession with an interception by Corsi. Brown ended the game, 58-8, on a 26 yard TD run with 7:13 remaining in the 3rd quarter.

The Indians host Zephyr Friday night. Kickoff is 7:30. Come support the Indians.
