Thursday, September 30, 2010 • Posted September 30, 2010

Mr. and Mrs. Elton Faught celebrated their 60th Wedding Anniversary on August 21, 2010 with a family gathering for dinner and reminiscing at Soap's Place Lodge. The setting around the beautiful San Saba River and newly landscaped and decorated establishment was enjoyed by all who attended. Tables were adorned with centerpieces of brass, flowers, candles, and handmade beaded doves with flowers sewn years ago by BeBee Faught for her children and grandchildren's wedding reception table coverings when they married. Following the dinner and the cutting of the anniversary cake, the eight grandchildren each shared memories of special times and lessons learned from the treasured times spent with "Grandma" and Grandpa" at the ranch, at their home, on the road traveling to and visiting Fredericksburg, at sporting events, or at their Community Appliance Store where most of the grandsons worked at one time or another. Elton and BeBee's eight great-grandchildren also honored their "GreatMa" and "GreatPa" with the singing of several songs including "Jesus Loves Me, This I Know."

Elton Roy Faught and Beatrice Joy (BeBee) Kordzik were married August 20, 1950 at the Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg, Texas. Their wedding reception and dinner were held at The Nimitz Hotel. They began their married life here in San Saba and have lived at 208 S. Edgewood most of those years. Elton's employment began at San Saba Produce, then as local agent for Merchants Motor Lines. BeBee was employed by San Saba Memorial Hospital as an RN before becoming Director of Family Planning at Hill Country Community Action. In 1977, they became owners of Community Appliance Inc. working there until their retirement in 2002. Following retirement, they have continued traveling, ranching, and helping their children and grandchildren in various ways.

Attending the special occasion were Elton's brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Vernell Faught of Doss, Texas who were attendants in Elton and BeBee's wedding 60 years ago. Serving as host and hostesses for the event were their son and daughter-in-law, Steve and Karen Faught, and their daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Keith Shahan, all of San Saba. Also attending were grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Bryan and Bonnie Shahan, Brady and Brooke of Dallas; Kevin and Monica Shahan, Risien, Madison, and Gracen of San Saba; Reagan and Stephanie Faught, and Emma of Bryan; Nathan and Shawna Shahan, Jackson and Grant of Rockwall; Stephen and Marsi Shahan of Fredericksburg; Jason Shahan of Lubbock; Mitchell Faught and Katie Yarborough of Midland, Kendall Stafford and Jeff Beal of Abilene, and Cynthia Faught and Brandon Culpepper of Austin.
