Fall is here at last and the weather is as you might have noticed a little cooler. Saturday light showers around the area, but none at the Bend. A light shower fell at the Price place but not enough to measure. The farther you drove from San Saba the lighter the rain. There was not a drop fell across the river.

The Bend News is also light this week, the same as the rain. They’re may be lots of news next week, who knows?

The upcoming fund raiser for the Bend Community center will be October 16, mark your calendar and be sure to attend and enjoy the delicious catfish that only Jackie Brister and his crew can cook, along with the cake and silent auction.

Everyone around the Bend knows what avid fans’ Jerome and Shirley Meischen is of the Longhorns. It was a sad day for the Meischen family Saturday when they watched the Longhorns lose to UCLA. They watched the game at home and cheered for the team, but to no avail. As Shirley says "You win some and you lose some", but their spirit is still with their grandson Blake Gideon and the rest of the Longhorn team. There is always next week. Jerome’s birthday was Saturday, but with the game being on Saturday the family waited until Sunday to celebrate his birthday.

Lesa Preece is in charge of the Silent Auction which will be held October 16 in conjunction with the fish fry and cake auction fund raiser. She requests that if you have anything for the silent auction to get it to her as soon as possible. She lives down the street from Bad Bobs Bait Store in Bend. You can drop off the items with your name at her home.

A birthday celebration was held at the Bend Methodist church Sunday for Pat Millican.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Danny Clark who will celebrate a birthday October 4, and to Cassidy Lucas who will also be celebrating a birthday October 4, Jason Hendrick whose birthday is October 5.
