Thursday, September 23, 2010 • Posted September 23, 2010

On the afternoon of Tuesday, September 7, the San Saba County 4-H’ers gathered in the Rylander Memorial Library to hold their first club meeting of the new 4-H year. There were seven previous members of the club and two new members attending the meeting.

There were several orders of business that the 4-H’ers covered. The first order of business was filling out enrollment sheets for the new 4-H year, and the election of new club officers. This year’s President is Abby Dellis; Vice President, Marissa Coffman; Treasurer, Emily Esquivel; Secretary, Melanie Hedley; Reporter, Sara Hedley; Official Photographer, Ron Gerhart; and The Council Delegates are Breann Hellner and Mykah McKinnerney.

Following the election of new officers was discussion of the club’s new community service project. This year the 4-H’ers have decided to donate canned and boxed food items to the San Saba Dove Project. 4-H’ers are asked to bring their food articles to the next meeting (second Tuesday in October). After discussing the community service project and agreeing to keep last year’s by-laws for this year, the 4-H’ers were informed about an upcoming 4-H event. Food Fun Day will be held in the San Saba Home Economics building at nine o’clock on September 25. Cost is ten dollars for each 4-H’er wanting to attend. Hope to see you there!

The year kicked off to a good start. We hope to gain another year of fun and accomplishments within our projects! If anyone is still looking to join 4-H this year talk to Mrs. Carolyn McDowell at the Courthouse or call her at 325-372-3851.
