Bend-Chappel EE Club holds meeting

The Bend-Chappel Extension Education Club met at the Bend Methodist Church Fellowship Hall on Monday, September 13, 2010. There were nine members present.

President Mary Jane Dennis called the meeting to order. She updated the list of volunteer hours for the club members. The roll was called and the minutes were read and approved. State dues and yearbook fees were collected.

It is San Saba’s turn to host the District Council ‘planning meeting’. A meeting for this event was held in Brownwood recently. It will be in San Saba on November 16th. It is a meeting for the district council officers. Millican Pecan will cater the lunch meal.

The State meeting will be in Wichita Falls starting September 21st. Carolyn McDowell, Fran Hulgan, Mary Jane Dennis, Faye Currie and Betty Wilson will attend.

Mary Jane Dennis gave the council report. There will be a program and yearbook planning meeting on September 30 at 9:30 a.m.

The Annual Council Meeting at Wallace Creek Club House will begin at 10:30 with a covered dish luncheon.

On October 15th Kay Stewart will have a Lunch and Learn at the San Saba Methodist Church. She will grind wheat and make bread. Everyone is asked to bring a salad to go with the rolls.

November 2, 2010 will be the annual San Saba Health Fair from 11 am to 2 pm.

The program of the day was on Scrapbooking by Fran Hulgan with others taking part. Fran started the program by explaining scrapbooking really began in primitive form over three hundred years ago. There are many ways to preserve, embellish and document our precious photographs and other keepsakes. Anyone wanting to get started can find many aids on the market today in stores and on the internet as well as consultants available to help those needing hands on instructions.

The meeting ended with refreshments and fellowship. Mary Jane Dennis and Sue Broyles were hostesses.
