Years after a Spanish ship is wrecked leaving it’s cargo of ponies to the wild on Assateague island, Paul and Maureen find the ship wreck and spent time watching the ponies. The two become fascinated with the Phantom and work to save the money needed to buy her. When Paul is allowed to participate in Pony Penning Day, he comes close to having his dream of owning not only the Phantom, but her colt as well.
