We have had no rain in the past few weeks but we are enjoying the cooler temperatures. There is rain in the forecast for Friday, just in time for the football game.

The Richland Springs Coyotes squeaked by with a very narrow win of 58-56 over Milford last Saturday night in the Zephyr Classic. They travel to Panther Creek this week for what could be another tough test.

This begins another new month and the 42 tournament will be in Richland Springs on the 11th. The Busy Bee quilters will meet on the 14th. There will be no community meeting this month as the rodeo appreciation supper falls on that date. Remember the gospel singing in October.

I had a note from Melanie Smith and she wants to make everyone aware that on September 12th the game between the Philadelphia Eagles and the Greenbay Packers will be televised about 3:00 PM. The time may change, so check your schedules. Philadelphia is honoring the 1960 World Championship team, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the win over Greenbay. J.D. Smith was a starter on that team, and he and Melanie will attend the game. The details are still being worked out, we don’t know if the players will be gathered on the field before the game or at halftime. The Eagles website may have more information. Hopefully, the viewers will get a glimpse of the Eagle from Richland Springs. We congratulate J.D. on this special honor.

Marilyn and Bethany Suber and I attended church in Cross Plains last Sunday where Marla Cummings was baptized. We came back to Brownwood, had lunch, then visited with Lowell Long. He is doing fairly well after completing chemo and radiation treatments. A check-up in a couple of weeks will tell us where he stands now.
