The Richland Springs Board of Trustees held a public hearing on the budget and tax rate on August 23, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room in the cafetorium. During the regular meeting, the Board of Trustees adopted a balanced budget, and set the tax rate at $1.17 Maintenance and Operations (M & O) for the 2010-2011 school year. The trustees also approved an election order calling for a bond election to be held on Nov. 2, 2010 in the amount of $2.5 million. Funds would be used to construct a new elementary building and a new track. Assuming if a $2.5 million bond election passes, taxes would increase from the current $0 to $.33 on the Interest and Sinking (I & S) tax rate, bringing the total tax rate (M&O + I&S) taxes to $1.50. The M&O district tax rate was $1.50 in 2005-2006.

Varsity football action will be Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. at Zephyr stadium vs. Milford. There will be a pep rally 6:30 Friday night at Richland Springs football field. A hamburger meal will be available at the Friday night pep rally for $5. Come watch the game Saturday evening and support our athletes, and see Zephyr’s new facilities.

Enrollment for the school year began at 134 students. Everything went smoothly for the first day at school. It looks to be a great year at Richland Springs.
