Ellen Jones reported that she has a new grandson. Dalton Ray Shafer was born to Jenna and Stacy Shafer on August 11. He weighed 7 pounds and 12 ounces and was 20 1/2 inches long. Congratulations Jenna and Stacy!

The Cherokee Volunteer Fire Department is selling chances on a Benelli Nova 12 gauge Pump Shotgun. Tickets are $5 each or a book of 25 for $100. Gun will be drawn at our fundraiser on Sept. 11. San Saba County Lions Club is selling chances for a Model 870 Express Super Magnum. This is no standard Model 870 Express. Far from it. Capable of handling everything from light 2 ¾-inch loads to heavy 3 ½-inch magnums interchangeably, this shotgun is unrivaled I versatility and value. No other pump gun even comes close. Awana will begin September 8th from 6-7 pm in the sanctuary. We will have a Kick-Off Registration and family night so all parents are invited to attend. This will give everyone a chance to find out the great plans for Awana this year. Wear school colors and show your spirit! A meal will be served following Awana. Awana will continue every Wednesday night from 6-7 pm throughout the school year. We have also included a new Trek program for grades 5th-7th. Please come to registration on September 8th at 6 pm in the new fellowship hall.

Andy Broyles is in the Brackenridge Hospital. He is slowly recovering.

School Bells rang at Cherokee School this last Monday. The kids all seem to be excited about school and sports.

Roman, Ross and Dean Maddox spent the weekend with Roddy and Barbara Maddox.

Friends of Cherokee High School Reunion will be held at the Football Game on Friday, September 24th at 7:00 p.m. All friends, ex-students and ex-teachers are urged to come.
