We have had no rain for several weeks and we really need some! It has been so hot, but there are cooler temperatures in the forecast for later in the week. The burn ban is back in effect.

There were 14 present at the community meeting last Saturday night. Monica Edmondson, with the help of Gloria and Jerald Weatherman, told us about their mission trip to New Mexico where they spent time with the Navajo Indians. It was a very interesting report. It made us aware that these people live in a whole other world from what we know. There will not be a community meeting in September due to the rodeo appreciation supper on that date. On our community meeting date in October, we will have a gospel singing. We want to invite everyone who enjoys singing, playing an instrument, or just listening, to come and join us. We will be reminding you again as the time draws nearer. The next regular meeting will be in November when it will already be time to make plans for the annual Christmas party. My, how time flies!

We were sorry to hear that Mildred Weatherman is in a San Antonio hospital and has been very ill. We send her our best wishes and ask everyone to add her to your prayer list.

Our family has been blessed with an abundance of good news. Two weeks ago, my grandson, Wiley Cummings, and his wife Tara, were baptized. Last Sunday, my great grand daughter, Georgia Tucker was baptized, and this Sunday, another grand daughter, Marla Cummings, will be baptized! We went to church in Brady last Sunday for Georgia’s special day. Roger and Martha Tucker and Stacie and Sophia Elizondo all joined us for church and lunch afterwards. This Sunday we will be going to Cross Plains to share the day with Marla.

School has begun again and, of course, our minds turn to football. The word is that the Coyotes are looking pretty good. We don’t have anyone playing for Richland Springs, but my grandson, Kelton Parson, will be playing on a Junior High team in Bangs.

I am trying to keep up with Jordon Shipley, who is playing for the Bengals and Colt McCoy, who is playing for the Browns. I got interested in following these boys when they were both playing for UT. I will still be watching for Blake Gideon, on UT’s team, this year. I have to sneak it by my Brady grandkids because they are all Aggie fans! They gave me an Aggie sweatshirt for Christmas last year and I try to wear it when they are going to be around.

Marilyn and Bethany Suber and I were in San Angelo Monday for some lab work for me. Of course, we managed to get in a visit with the Elizondos while we were there. Stacie, Santos and Sophia as well as Nonie and "Big" Santos joined us for lunch. Would it be considered bragging if I said Sophia gets cuter every time we see her? We got in some grocery shopping and came on home tired but we enjoyed the day.

I hope everyone enjoys the "cool front" this week, when the temperatures are supposed to only be in the lower 90’s.
