County Commissioners set 90-day Burn Ban

A Special meeting of the San Saba County Commissioners Court was held at 9:30 a.m. Friday, August 13th, in the County Judge’s Chambers.

County Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. Theodosis introduced Pat Poole, incoming Commissioner, Precinct 4 who was attending, but not voting, sitting in for absent Commissioner Roger McGehee. Commissioner Rickey Lusty gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

One bid was presented and opened from Warren Cat Company of San Angelo for the purchase of equipment in Precinct 3. Warren Cat Company representative Bill Thomas explained the features of the two maintainers (one with ripper) with the trade-in price financed at 3 1/2 % interest rate. The amount also includes the governmental pricing break.

There was a short discussion regarding the dry conditions in the County. The Commissioners unanimously approved implementing a Burn Ban effective immediately for 90 days. There are agriculture and other exempt burns that are to be called into the Sheriff/ Fire Departments before burning. Judge Theodosis signed the document that will be sent to the state, newspaper, radio, sheriff’s department,and fire department.

Items in the 2010-2011 Budget were discussed, comparing them to the current year budget.

The proposed budget includes a 3% cost of living increase in pay for County employees. Budget information will be published soon in The San Saba News and Star.

Judge Theodosis adjourned the meeting. In attendance at the meeting were: County Judge, Byron Theodosis; County Commissioners, Kenley Kroll, Rickey Lusty, Otis Judkins; County Clerk, Kim Wells; County Treasurer, Gayla Hawkins; County Coordinator, Marsha Hardy; Pat Poole, Bill Thomas and Alice Smith, Reporter, San Saba News and Star.
