Dillo Football Report
Thursday, August 19, 2010 • Posted August 19, 2010

Well believe it or not, ready or not, football season is here. Since August 2nd, the high school football team has had 18 practices and one scrimmage. The coaching staff has been very pleased with how 2-a-days and the 1st scrimmage went. We would like to thank everybody for coming out and supporting the kids during 2-a-days and following us to the scrimmage at Hico this past Saturday. We were pleased with the way the scrimmage went for both the JV and the Varsity Dillos. The good things of the scrimmage were we seemed in good shape, and that is most important. Secondly we were very physical and that was good to see also. We have some execution things to work on, but that is why you scrimmage. We will be working on that through out the season on both levels, as well as the Middle School when school starts. We have 30 players on the JV, and 24 Varsity Dillos. We expect to have 17-20 players in both the 7th and 8th grades. The Varsity is made up of 8 Sr’s, 10 Jr’s, and 6 sophomores. We have 12 lettermen returning, 7 offensive starters, 6 defensive starters, Kicker, Punter, Punt Returner, and 2 Kick Returners.

San Saba is in District 13 - Division 2 - Region 4 for football only these next 2 years. This week is a big week for San Saba football starting Monday we will have 1 practice a day, as we start preparing for school with teacher in- service and meetings. This Thursday, August 19th, we have football team and individual pictures. That evening the JV scrimmages Comanche at 6:00 with Varsity following at 7:00. The scrimmage will be followed by meet the Dillos. As in the past we ask that if possible your admission to the scrimmage be a donation of any or all of the following: NEW BATH TOWELS (anycolor), SHAMPOO, LIQUID BODY WASH. (We try not to use bar soap, it is possible to spread infection from one to another sharing the soap). THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ALL YOUR DONATIONS.

Monday, August 23rd starts the 2010-2011 school year. Middle School students will start football this day. I posted on several calendars and articles earlier that middle school players could pick up equipment on Friday the 20th. WE CANNOT DO THIS AS ALL COACHES WILL BE GONE SCOUTING SCRIMMAGES. Sorry if I messed up any one's plans. I would like to recognize and thank, Jackie Shahan and Pecan Valley Hardware letting us use the mister fan at practice. I would also like to thank the Whittens and Alamo Pecan for hosting Coffee with the Coach, and Clay Bush at Super S Foods for the donation of Gatorade for the San Saba athletic dept. See you Thursday at Rogan.
