Eating Together
Thursday, August 19, 2010 • Posted August 19, 2010

The new school year is practically here. Do you want to get off to a good start? Then eat a 30 minute dinner together. What do grades and eating together have in common? Research shows that kids who eat five or more meals per week with their families do better in school and have fewer behavior problems. Even when you are short of time, it’s a good idea to take time to eat together. In fact there is more than one benefit of eating together. Other benefits include:

Teens are less likely to use drugs or alcohol.

Family communication improves.

Family traditions are created around meals.

Kids understand their family’s values.

Meals are more healthful.

Food dollars are better spent.
