We have missed out on the showers that have been falling in the area. Temperatures have been extremely hot but cooler weather is in the forecast, as well as a chance for rain.

There was a houseful of 42 players out at Shiloh Saturday night for the tournament. There were 5 tables competing. Everyone seemed to be having a lot of fun. Andy Cummings and Donna Taylor won first place, Don and Elna Clark won second and Guy T. Wood and Bettie Evans placed third. The next tournament will be at Richland Springs on September 11th.

There were only four ladies to do the quilting last Tuesday at the Busy Bee quilting. Grace Hardman, Irene Hammett, and Fay and Gloria Lusty completed a quilt for Irene Hammett. In September the ladies will work on a quilt for the Richland Springs VFD fundraiser.

The Elm Grove community meeting will be Saturday night, the 21st. Kitty Cummings and Bonnie Evans are scheduled to be the hostesses. Monica Edmondson will speak about her mission trip to New Mexico.

I guess a lot of teachers are already back to work, getting ready for the students next week. Lanell Parson is having work days at Bangs. She will have to go to San Angelo for some of them. Seems to me like the summer sure was short!
