We just celebrated the birth of our nation. God has been good to us! Years ago our Founding Fathers came together with one of the most amazing documents ever written-The Constitution of the United States of America. It was a document that, if followed, will rule and guide us in all of our actions as a nation. Some today believe it is a "living" document and subject to change. When you change the document, you change its intents and purposes.

The Founding Fathers were deeply concerned that the new nation be ruled by a Supreme Being-our Creator, God. When we determine that we do not need our Creator, the need for our following that which is right is taken away. Today the immoral way some people live threaten to destroy our country. We must not let this happen.

There is another document that also is important to us today. This is the Bible, God’s message to mankind. Our Creator handed this document down to us to guide us and lead us in the way we need to go. It will guide us into morality if we will follow its commands and precepts. Sadly today there are those who would tell us this is out dated. They have taken the Word of God and have given it the meaning that seems best to them. Because of our post modern society we say there is no absolute truth. (Folks who say this are absolutely sure of it). Yet God’s Word says, "and you will know the truth and the truth will make you free" (John 8:32 NASB). When Jesus prayed to His Father before His death in John 17 He prayed "Sanctify them in the truth: Your Word is truth" (17:17 NASB).

I enjoy the freedoms we have in this country and thank God for them. If we as a nation turn from God we will be destroyed by others. Read the Book of Judges. The prophets foretold of Israel and Judah being taken into captivity because of their turning from God. It could happen to us.

In 2 Chronicles 7:14 we read, "and My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked way, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land" (NASB).
