Myrna Rae Maynard Lewis

Funeral services for Myrna Rae Maynard Lewis, 82, of May, were held on Friday, May 16th, in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Tony King officiating. Interment followed in Pleasant Valley Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home of Early.

Mrs. Lewis passed away on Monday, May 12, 2008, at her home in May with loved ones by her side.

She was born on September 15, 1925, in Nimrod, Texas, to Walter Don and Annie Emaline Maynard. Myrna was a 1942 graduate of Rising Star High School. She married Calvin Lewis in Rising Star on May 24, 1942. To this union were born two children: Jimmy Rex on March 10, 1945, and Linda Sue on August 1, 1947.

Myrna was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She was a bookkeeper for eight years at Westside State Bank in Ft. Worth before moving to Gorman in 1963, where she was a bookkeeper at Eastland National Bank for 20 years before retiring. She accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her personal Lord and Savior in 1941, and was a member of the Christadelphian Church in Romney, Texas.

Myrna lived life to the fullest. Her most pleasurable times were playing with the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, working crossword puzzles, and visiting with friends.

She is survived by her husband, James Lewis of Lake Brownwood; daughter , Sue Brown and husband, Dwayne, of Lake Brownwood; her son, Rex Lewis and wife, Joy, of Rising Star; adopted daughter, Pam Ulan and husband, Jerry, of Albion, PA; five grandchildren: Debbie Harris and husband, Leonard; Jimmy Lewis and wife, Terri; Johnny Lewis and wife, Debbie, all of Ft. Worth; Cindy Russell and husband, Gary, of Dublin; and Wes Lewis of Colorado; 11 great-grandchildren; six great-great grandchildren; special friend, Diann Parker of Lake Brownwood; and many other family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Emaline Maynard; four siblings: Don Leslie Maynard, Doyle Lee Maynard, Martha Joan Hubbard, and Clara Lou Schlittler. Two grandchildren, Garland Benjamin Mathews, Jr. and Arlette Dequitta Mathews, also preceded her in death.

Pallbearers for the service included Donald McKinnerney, Beryl McKinnerney, Larry McKinnerney, Floy McKinnerney, Jack Hubbard, and John Schlittler.
