Dillos Quarterfinal Champions

San Saba earned its third straight 2-game sweep of a 3-game series Saturday, whipping the Hawley Bearcats 11-2 in the class 2A regional quarterfinals at Morris Southall Field.

San Saba’s offensive production in clutch situations continued Saturday with seven of the runs coming with two outs.Travis Hawkins had 3 RBIs, with a 3-run 6th inning blast that sealed the deal. Casey Phillips had 3 hits and 1 RBI. Blake Lewis had 1 hit and RBI. Davey Wright had 1 hit and 1 RBI. Trey Tinney had 2 hits and 3 RBIs, and Derek Sears had 1 RBI. Robert Pulatie pitched all seven innings, allowing one earned run and picking up his first playoff win. Defensivley, Phillips led the Dillos to another outstanding defensive game.

In game 1 on Friday night and in front of a tremendous crowd, the San Saba Armadillos held off the Bearcats, 7-5. Blake Lewis got his 3rd playoff win, and his 11th of the year in a gutsy preformance. Robert Pulatie, Luke Haug and John Henry all had big doubles. In the 4th inning, down 1-0, the Dillos scored 4 runs, 2 in the 5th, and 1 big insurance run in the 7th. Again, the Dillo defense was outstanding.

The San Saba Armadillos are Regional Quarterfinal Champions!! The team has really played well so far in the playoffs, with all 13 team members contributing. In six playoff games, the Dillos have scored 77 runs on 77 hits, with 25 of those being for extra bases. The team batting average is .433. In regards to pitching, the Dillos have 6 wins, and a 3.41 ERA. Defensivley, the Dillos have committed just 7 errors for a .959 fielding percentage.

Thanks for all the support; it's great and is helping us so much. This week the Dillos will play for the Regional Semifinal Championship in Snyder, Texas vs. the Dimmitt Bobcats. Game 1 is Friday @ 5:00 at Westerner Field on the campus of Western Texas College. Games 2 and 3, if needed, will be held at Moffitt Field. The Dillos will leave Friday at 10:00 a.m.
