The Richland Springs Board of Trustees held a special meeting on August 2, 2010, at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room in the cafetorium. The Board of Trustees met with architect Mike Nelson of NR2 Architects. Mike Nelson explained the full services of his architectural firm to the present board, along with information on current building costs. The meeting was an information gathering process. NR2 designed an elementary building and assisted in both bond planning and design planning in a previous failed bond election several years ago.

The present Board of Trustees is again reviewing the district’s facility needs, and gathering more information in order to begin the process of analyzing and prioritizing their findings. One area of budget concern is the rising costs of electricity and propane. Electricity provides the cooling for school buildings, and propane and electricity provide the heating for school buildings. Last school year, the district budgeted $65,000 for electricity and $27,000 for propane gas. Currently the district is $3,687 over-budget on propane costs.

The 2010-2011 Coyotes hit the practice field at 6:45 am on Monday morning to prepare for an onslaught on another state championship. Coach Burkhart received news yesterday that the RICHLAND SPRINGS COYOTES have been named "FOOTBALL TEAM of the DECADE!!" by the San Angelo Standard-Times. The Coyotes were chosen from all classifications (6-man - 5A) in West Texas!! There will be an article about the Coyotes released at a later date. Once the date is released, I will pass it on to you. What an HONOR for each and every Coyote player & Coach from the years 2000-2009!
