We have had no rain for the past two weeks and the vegetation is showing the effects of the lack of moisture.

It looks like we will have good weather for the rodeo beginning this Thursday night. It will continue on Friday and Saturday nights, beginning at 8:00 PM each evening. It will be hot and dry. The guys are probably going to be busy watering the grounds to cut down on the dust. There will be a barbecue supper on Saturday at 5:30 PM. There is no entry fee for contestants and they may sign up on arrival. The gate admission is still $1.00 for adults as it has been since the rodeo began over 50 years ago. Does anyone know of any other event that still charges the same admission after that long? The rodeo has become a homecoming for former residents and competitors. Contestants from days gone by are now attending with their grandchildren.

We have kicked off another new month. Hard to believe it is the 8th month already! The 42 tournament will be on the 14th at Shiloh. The Busy Bee quilters will meet on the 10th. The community meeting will be on the 21st. Monica Edmondson will tell us about her mission trip to New Mexico and her visit with the Navaho Indians. This should be very interesting.
