The rain is gone and the heat is on and the Bend news is next to nothing this week.

The fishing has slowed because of the heat, but some catches of catfish are still being brought in.

The lack of the fish biting hasn’t slowed down people coming to the fishing camps and visiting the Colorado State park as every weekend the traffic, campers, boats and all sorts of recreation vehicles are seen going down the road to the recreation spots.

On the west side of the Bend there has been lots of activity. There are now two new cabins that have been built on the banks of the Colorado and no one seems to know too much about them. One has been completed and held visitors this past weekend, as there was not one but three big motorcycles parked at one.

LaNell Daniels made the trip to the Scott & White Pain Clinic in Round Rock and received her shots to relieve the pain she has been having. She reported that she was able to walk to her mail box without the aid of a cane, but she was still having some pain. She should also be put on your prayer list.

David and Jamie Garrett and another couple from Lampasas recently returned from a trip to Scotland and Ireland. The men played golf and the women did some sight seeing. They all attended the British Open golf tournament one day while there.

Sharon Johnson who worked at Bad Bob’s and lives in the Delta Acres area is in the Round Rock hospital in a coma and is in need of everyone’s prayers.

Sunday Jack and LaNell Daniels went to their cabin on the Smith Ranch. Daughters Joyce Daniels and Brenda and Donnie Bandsitter of Christoval and son Gene Daniels of Evant came for the day. Jack fried catfish with all the trimmings for everyone and they all caught up on family news. Needless to say everyone had a good time.

Happy birthday goes out to John Byrd whose birthday is August 10, to Kit Clark who will celebrate her birthday August 12.

Congratulations go out to Dan and Jill Harrington who will be celebrating their anniversary August 11.
