County 4-H'ers compete in District Record Book Judging
Thursday, July 22, 2010 • Posted July 22, 2010

District 4-H Record Book Judging was held Thursday July 15th in San Angelo. Several San Saba Co. 4-H’ers placed. Participating were: Jacey Gossett in Photography, 4th place; Riana Bass in Intermediate Foods & Nutrition, 6th place; Kristen Harrell in Junior Horse, 1st place; Abby Dellis, Senior Horse, 5th place; Jordan Gossett in Junior Photography, 4th place; Mykah McKinnerney in Junior Photography, 2nd; Melanie Hedley in Intermediate Shooting Sports, 5th place; Sara Hedley in Senior Shooting Sports, 3rd; and Ron Gerhart Senior Shooting Sports, participant.

4-H’ers keep record books for several reasons. One reason is most wage-earning jobs require some type of record-keeping. Individuals and families keep records of personal expenses, of children’s inoculation and of expenses /deductions for income tax preparation.

Doing a 4-H record book is a great way to learn how to keep records. Another reason 4-H’ers like to keep records is that it gives them the satisfaction of seeing what all you have accomplished in black and white.

Finally 4-H'ers use their record books as references when doing resumes and filling out job applications. The best time to start keeping records is when you start the project. For more information about record books or San Saba County 4-H, call the AgriLife Extension Office at 372-5416.
