Thursday, July 22, 2010 • Posted July 22, 2010

San Saba’s First Baptist Church will be holding revival services starting Sunday July 25, and continuing until Wednesday July 28. Sunday services are at 10:30 am and 6:30 pm. Weeknights the service will begin at 6:30 each evening with a special event following each service. On Sunday evening at 5:30 pm there will be a free fried chicken dinner at the church catered by Underwood’s Fried Chicken.

The guest speaker for the week will be Dr. D.L. Lowrie of Lubbock, Texas. Dr. Lowrie is the Pastor Emeritus from First Baptist Church in Lubbock. He was pastor there for many years and is in much demand as a speaker both in Texas and nationwide. Dr. Lowrie is a published author and has held many leadership roles within the denomination.

The music will be provided by the First Baptist Church praise team with special guest. Playing with the band all week is former band member Jim Glaspy. Jim was voted Branson multi-instrumentalist of the year this year and is the former Texas state flat-pick guitar champion and the international dobro guitar champion. Also playing with the band is Brownwood’s Lance Beaumont. Lance is Assistant Professor of Guitar at Howard Payne University and leads worship at Coggin Ave. Baptist Church in Brownwood.

On Wednesday night the band will be joined by Los Angeles studio musician Steve Trovato. Steve teaches jazz and country guitar at USC in L.A. He is a music representative for several brands including Fender and Roland. He has written many instruction books and has played on hundreds of recording projects for top names.

The theme "chicken fried" was chosen to reflect the music style for the week. The band will be playing country and bluegrass gospel all week with guitar, mandolin, dobro and banjo. A nursery will be provided for children four and under at no cost. For more information go to www.sansabafbc.org or call the church office at 325-373-5761.
