Thursday, July 15, 2010 • Posted July 15, 2010

The annual Millican family reunion was held at the San Saba Civic Center on Saturday, July 3, 2010. There were at least 53 family members, plus several guests present.

Families began to gather at 10 A.M. for the annual event.

The greater number of family members came from the Mose and Ginnie Means Millican branch of the family. Sherman Millican’s family was represented by Gail Callahan of Lampasas; Jean Strouhal of Friendswood and her family: son Paul of Amarillo, grandson Brian of College Station, daughter Jennifer and her husband Doug of Friendswood, and their daughter Mae. Pat and Bonnie Millican attended from Bend, along with their son Geoff, his wife Lindsay, and their son (and newest Millican) Henry Means Millican of North Richland Hills.

Winston Millican’s family saw Elsie Millican of San Saba in attendance. Her eldest son Mike and his wife Charlotte (Brownwood and San Saba) added to the number. Bob Millican of Colony was there with family members Monica and her husband Kevin Shahan of San Saba and their children Risien, Madison, and Gracen. Winston and Kristen of San Saba, along with their daughter Anna, rounded out Winston and Elsie’s family numbers.

Thelma Millican represented the Poley Millican family. Her daughter Mary Nell of Boerne attended along with her son Todd and wife Debbie of San Antonio. Their girls Emma and Sophie were away at camp. Sylvia and Forrest McGregor of San Saba were also in attendance, along with their son Greg, his wife Karen, and son Logan of Lampasas. Their daughter Kathy Anderson and husband Randy came from Lubbock with their children, daughter Carley and sons Clayton and Cole.

Martha Burnham of San Saba did an outstanding job as the lone representative from the John Zack Millican Owen family.

From the Bobbie Millican Parks family, Caroline Parks of Brady attended. She was joined by her daughter Lydia, husband Cliff, and sons Conall and Grayson all of Round Rock.

The Miles Millican branch of the family had in attendance Ruth Millican, widow of Manse Millican, from Decatur. Joining her were her sons and their families: Ron Millican and wife Vickie of San Antonio attended with their sons Zach and Jacob of Arlington joining them here. Scott and Pam Millican of Arlington completed the group.

Special guests for the reunion were C.K Stevenson, a Means descendant, and his wife Vickie. Others were Emmett Lee Grumbles of San Saba and John Pat Grumbles of Austin.

Judging by the amount of good food, fellowship, and fun everyone had a wonderful time and they look forward to next year’s reunion. We hope to see everyone there!
