We had some more rain last week but not enough to rain out the Stars and Stripes celebration again. The parade was a good one. I thought one of the cutest participants was John and Michelle Mask’s little girl on her tricycle. Her little legs were pedaling as fast as they could go. She didn’t even have to watch where she was going because Daddy was right beside her with his rope attached to her tricycle. Our grandkids came over and we all enjoyed one of Shirley Benton’s burgers for lunch. Bethany took them to the pool in San Saba while Marilyn played in the 42 tournament. We all went to the fish fry and came back home to a freezer of homemade ice cream and sat in the backyard to enjoy the fireworks. We all had a good day.

Phyllis Taylor and David Hulme won the 42 tournament with Micah Shaw and Daniel Hulme taking second and Bob Mask and Guy Wood coming in third.

Several of the die-hard 42 players went on out to Elm Grove to play in the tournament Saturday night but we were unable to get any results on the outcome. The next tournament will be at Shiloh in August.

The community meeting will be at the Elm Grove community center this Saturday night. Your attendance would sure be appreciated. Remember the rodeo August 5,6,&7.

We will have a fellowship dinner at Holt Baptist church next Sunday after the services. Come and join us. Annie Myrl Gober and her daughter, Glenda Huff, were at church last Sunday. It is always a special treat to see Annie Myrl. She now resides with another daughter, Marsha Larremore, in Brownwood.
