Thursday, July 8, 2010 • Posted July 8, 2010

The San Saba County Commissioners Court met on Tuesday, June 29th at 9 a.m. in the County Judge’s Chambers. County Judge Byron Theodosis called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone. Commissioner Roger McGehee gave the invocation followed by everyone joining for the pledges to the American and Texas flags.

Jim Reed, Executive Director of the Central Texas Council of Governments (COG), gave a presentation concerning 9-1-1 support. Annette Shepherd, Planning & Regional Director, helped with the information. Reed explained the current CTCOG 9-1-1 System; Funding Cycle; Factors affecting available funding; operational costs; historical expenditures/projected revenues; current network (and conceptual trunk lines); Conceptual next generation network; possible courses of action and options for needed funding. Each 9-1-1 call from San Saba County is $57.00 because of the distance the transmission travels from San Saba County to San Angelo and then back to the Sheriff’s office in San Saba. Their goal is to be "all digital" and install new technology; however, there could be a short fall in 2012.

The Commissioners approved the purchase of equipment to accomplish Video Magistration. Judge Les Dawson will get the equipment and the funds are available in the Technology Fund.

A Reserve Officer, Jim Novark, is a new employee.

After discussion, the Burn Ban was enacted with one commissioner opposed.

The accounts payable, presented by Treasurer Gayla Hawkins, was approved to be paid.

The next Commissioners Court will be Monday, July 12th at 9 a.m.
