How I spent the 4th of July
Thursday, July 8, 2010 • Posted July 8, 2010

We spent this fourth weekend in a little different way. One of our sons changed jobs and he and his family were moving to another town about 100 miles away so we volunteered or maybe we were drafted to help with the move. We spent some time keeping the grand children and we also helped with some of the loading. With pickups loaded and their car fully packed the caravan was ready to move out. We had a beautiful day as it was cool and cloudy and no flats. Driving down the road and looking at them move reminded me of something in the Bible. God told Abraham to leave his mother and father and move to a new place, (Genesis 12:1-3). Abraham trusted God and obeyed and moved over 400 miles to what is now Israel. Abraham is called the father of faith, (Romans 4:16). The Christian life is a journey not a one day event. God requires that we put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ to receive forgiveness from our sins and to continue in obedience to Him all of our lives, (Romans 4:7&8, 20-25). We will be called upon to trust God by faith time after time, (Galatians 3:11). Abraham had many ups and downs but he continued by faith in God and His promises, (Hebrews 11:8&9,17). See you in Church next Sunday.
