Off the Beaten Path Ministries’ Alternative Temporary-Emergency Facility: ABIGAIL’S HOUSE Plans on F
Thursday, July 1, 2010 • Posted July 1, 2010

Off the Beaten Path Ministries, Inc is a faith-based, community-based, non-profit organization that reaches out to families affected by family abuse.

OTBPM is not a government funded agency but a private organization which is supported by the donations and contributions of individuals, churches and businesses who desire to have a violence free community.

When Shelter and Safety Are Not Enough

Abigail’s House is part one of a two-part plan to stop the cycle of violence in San Saba County and beyond. Abigail’s House will not only offer safety and shelter in a home environment but will offer life-skill programs such as: Learning to set healthy boundaries; communication skills; workforce skills; parenting skills and programs that promote emotional healing.

All of these programs will be facilitated by trained volunteers from the community.

Individuals will be able to stay at Abigail’s House for up to 90 days or longer depending on the individual case. It’s our goal to equip these individuals to become self-supporting. We offer a hand-up, not a hand-out.

OTBPM is a Christian organization therefore all resources used in the various programs are Bible-based.

We already have a waiting list of those desiring to come to Abigail’s House. Not only do we take anyone who comes to OTBPM for help, we also work with pastor’s who refer individuals from their congregation who need help.

We do have a Wish List that will greatly assist us in being ready to welcome those who are living in life-threatening situations.

IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HELP, WE NEED:

·A set of nice bunk beds (something you wouldn’t mind sleeping in).

·New twin sheet sets

·New twin comforters

·New Pillows

·New toys for both boys and girls (all ages)

·DVD player (that works). This will be used not only for the children but will be used for the various programs that have DVD’s in the curriculum.

·Monthly donations that will cover food, toiletries, clothes, operational expenses, over the counter medicines such as Tylenol, etc. (We don’t have the storage for excess food products, clothing and toiletries. So these will be purchased as needed.)

While we have been offering services to families for the past year, finally we will have a temporary home for them.

If you would like to help or have questions please contact Dee Vickery @ OTBPM (325) 372-3276. All of your contributions and donations will be tax deductible to the degree the IRS tax code allows.
