Today (Monday) has been cooler than usual and we got some rain this morning. It sure was nice. Rain is in the forecast every day this week. The Stars and Stripes celebration scheduled for Saturday may get rained on. I remember that it was rained out the very first year and had to be re-scheduled for the following Saturday.

We start another new month later on this week. The 42 tournament will be July 10th at Elm Grove. The Busy Bee quilters will meet on the 13th and the community meeting will be July 17th. The rodeo is coming up fast on August 5,6, &7.

The weather was perfect last Saturday evening when 37 of our bunch got together for Andy Cummings on his 90th birthday. His birthday is not until July 6th but this was the best weekend for everyone to get together. Those in attendance were, Gerald and Glenda Cummings from Tularosa, New Mexico; Cody, Kristy and Shayly Cummings from Rincon, New Mexico; Zane, Hattie and A.J. Cummings from the Rocker B Ranch near Barnhart; Wiley, Tara, Kiley, Karter, Kinley and Kreed Cummings from Seminole; Amy, Rex, Jax, Georgia and Jesse Tucker from Brady; Stacie, Santos and Sophia Elizondo from San Angelo; Michael, Marilyn and Bethany Suber and Irene Cummings from Richland Springs; Lanell, Ken, Theron, Kelton and Hannah Parson from Bangs; Kitty and Monty Cummings from Locker; and G.H. Suber from Odessa and the honoree. Zane’s friend, Anthony, from Garden City, loaned the use of his nice barbecue pit on wheels and even came along to help with the cooking. Gerald and Glenda brought their friend, Beth. All those New Mexico and West Texas folks found it a little too humid down here, but we thought it was nice. It was a very good day and we somehow managed to surprise Andy with the whole thing.

We were sorry to hear of the passing of Jean Powell. Her services were held Monday morning in Brownwood with burial in Richland Springs. We send our sympathy to Bob and the rest of the family.

Marilyn Suber spent Monday accompanying her cousin, Lowell Long, for Dr.s appointments and on Tuesday she took me to San Angelo for my appointments. Hair It Is may be closed at odd times while she is driving her "patients" around. Just keep trying and she welcomes you to call her at home and leave a message.
