PLANO, KILLEEN and TEMPLE, Texas– June 20, 2010 – LHP Hospital Group, Inc. has announced that it plans to build a new hospital in the Killeen-Harker Heights area. Dan Moen, LHP CEO, commented, "We are very excited about the growth opportunity in this area and honored to have the support of an outstanding group of local physicians in Killeen and Temple. Our philosophy is that while LHP may own the bricks and mortar, our hospitals belong to the communities we serve. In keeping with that philosophy, local physicians will comprise at least 50% of the hospital board of trustees with the remainder of the trustees coming from local community leaders. We will work closely with the existing physicians in the community to recruit the additional physicians needed to provide quality care in the fast growing market. "
Tom Frazier, LHP Executive Vice President and project team leader, said, "The new hospital will have 75 all private rooms with spacious areas for outpatient services and will utilize state of the art construction and equipment. Our immediate task will be to determine the location for the new facility. We have identified several possible sites in the Killeen and Harker Heights area. Once the site is finalized and planning is complete, we intend to begin work in the fourth quarter of 2010. The planned opening is second quarter of 2012. A new medical office building will also be constructed."
