Dillos High School Eligible Baseball open season on good note
Thursday, June 24, 2010 • Posted June 24, 2010

The San Saba Dillos kicked off the 2010 summer baseball season with a double header against our neighbors from the north, Goldthwaite, on Saturday. In the opener Cody Herd pitched an excellent game giving up only 1 run on 5 hits and striking out 7 in 5 innings with only 59 pitches. On offense the Dillos took awhile to settle in but came alive in a hurry in the bottom of the 5th. When the dust had settled the Dillos had scored 11 runs and ended the game early via the 10 run rule after 5 innings. The Dillos scored 1 run in both the 2nd and 4th with a homerun off the bat of Ryan Pannell and a RBI via a hit by JT Mathis. In the bottom of the 5th the Dillos scored 10 runs with hits by Zack Davis, Luke Cox, Ryan Pannell, JT Holland, JT Mathis, and 2 by Cody Herd. The final of game 1 was 11-1 Dillos.

Game 2 started much the same way with both teams having problems getting runners across home plate. Much like the first game Zack Davis pitched an outstanding game giving up no runs 1 hit 1 strikeout and 2 walks in 3 innings with only 42 pitches and Ryan Pannell came on in relief and pitched 2 innings of scoreless ball with no hits 2 walks and 5 strikeouts. On offense the Dillos scored 1 run in the 2nd with an RBI off the bat of Tanner Hawkins. In the 3rd the Dillos scored 3 runs with Cody Herd, Josh Wright, and JT Holland all scoring. In the 4th the Dillos scored 7 runs with Luke Cox, Cody Herd, Ryan Pannell, Micheal McKinnerney, JT Mathis, Josh Wright and JT Holland all crossing the plate. I want to say that I was very proud of all the boys for their effort and determination. On Friday the 25th the Dillos will travel to Goldthwaite for a game at 7 pm. Come support the boys.
