25 Years Ago-June 6, 1985

The San Saba Grand Jury indicted an out of county man of aggravated kidnapping of a New Braunfels pharmacist and burglary of habitation with a weapon; indicted a local man on a charge of murder in a fatal shooting; indicted a local man on a charge of aggravated sexual assault of a child. The Grand Jury "No Billed" a San Saba County Commissioner on a charge of official misconduct.

The San Saba Chamber of Commerce float participated in the Llano PRCA Rodeo parade last Friday and placed 1st in the "out of town" category.

San Saba County Commissioners and the City Council met May 28 and discussed the future of the Ambulance service in San Saba. Although no solution was decided upon during the meeting, proposals for the emergency service operation will be submitted to Commissioners from San Saba Hospital, Inc. and Melvin Williams who operates the service at this time. One other individual proposal is also expected and will be taken into consideration.

50 Years Ago-June 9, 1960

Thanks to two small boys, ages 6 and 7, by the names of Mike Ray and Mark Amthor, for nailing homemade posters on garage doors and telephone poles in the West End area with the following message:

The dates indicate that they must have gotten hold of a last years poster.

Over 400 Boy Scouts, Explorers and Leaders will be at Camp Billy Gibbons when their 29th season begins Monday, June 6th. Scout Troops and Explorer Posts spending the week include Lampasas, Comanche, Early, Goldthwaite and Brownwood. Forrest McGregor of Richland springs is part of the resident staff.

Richard Barker, San Saba's Class AA schoolboy state tennis champion in singles, was crowned champion of the schoolboy division Sunday in the Brown County Tennis Tournament held last week, and shared the title with Larry Bourke and Charles Williams in doubles.

100 Years Ago-June 9, 1910

Mrs. Earnest Williams and Miss Eupha Polk chaperoned the following young people for an enjoyable evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. A.E. Petty, Misses Johnie Kirkpatrick, Alex Polk, Naoma Smalensky, Francis Williams, and Messrs. Lewis Thornton, Alex Moore, Wildbahn Martin, Doran Jackson, Harry Doran, Willie White, Douglas Keenan.

Richland Springs will pull off a big picnic on Sat. July 2 to celebrate July 4th. They have the promise of some big guns of the Woodmen fraternity and also the gubernatorial fraternity.

Monday night at the store of John M. Sessions was burglarized at Harkeyville. Some chisels and other tools were procured from the blacksmith shop close by and the inside safe door was prized and broken away. It contained some $90 in cash and checks, besides Mr. Sessions' fire and life insurance policies, some deeds, notes and other papers. When Sheriff Miller and deputy Berry Nalls were notified, they went immediately to the scene and are hard at work on such clues as they can get hold of.
