James Baker Owen, 93, passed away on Friday, April 30, 2010.

James (Baker) was born in Zephyr, Texas July 29, 1916 to Adly Polk Owen and Sarah (Brown) Owen. He, his parents and brother and sisters lived in San Saba over 14 years. He graduated from San Saba High School in 1934. He earned his pilot's license in 1957. On September 5, 1941, he married Louise Turnham in Bethany, Oklahoma. Baker and Louise were married 67 wonderful years. They lived in Fort Worth most of those years. He and Louise traveled extensively throughout the United States and abroad. He retired from General Dynamics after 40 years of service. Baker was a Mason and Shriner; and in 2009 received his 50 year award from Ridglea Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Owen; son, Michael Owen; granddaughter, Penny Lambert; brother, A.C. Owen; sisters, Grace Horton, Yvonne Johnson; and Louise Evans.

Survivors include, daughter, Pat Cox and husband, Charles; sister-in-law, Violet Schroader and husband, Paul; grandchildren, Chuck Cox and wife, Shelley; Michelle Idler and husband, Werner; great grandchildren, Kristin and Cooper Cox, Blake Kincaid, Duke and Evan Lambert; nephew, Jim Johnson and wife Margaret Johnson of San Saba.
