Thursday, June 17, 2010 • Posted June 17, 2010

The Texas AgriLife Extension Service in Lampasas County is conducting a Brush Management Workshop on June 22, 2010. The program will be held at the Lampasas County Farm Bureau Building (1793 N. Hwy 281) and begin promptly at 3:00 p m. Dr. Allan McGinty, Professor & Extension Range Specialist from San Angelo, will be on hand to discuss brush management in Lampasas County.

Focus will be specifically on the "big three" that give landowners fits in Lampasas County; those being cedar, prickly pear, and mesquite. General ecology and biology of each species will be discussed, as well as specific control strategies in an attempt to help landowners better understand how to effectively manage them on their properties. Participants will also hear a presentation on laws and regulations associated with using pesticides safely and correctly.

Three Continuing Education Units (CEUs) will be offered for those with a Pesticide Applicators License (1 Laws & Regs, 2 General). The program is free of charge to participants. For more information, please contact the Texas AgriLife Extension Service office in Lampasas County at (512) 556-8271 or jhbyrd@ag.tamu.edu.
