Everyone around the Bend is still watching the clouds and hoping for rain. Everything is really getting dry and the gardens are having to be watered to keep them going.

The Methodist fish fry held at the Campground was well attended last Friday night. The fish was excellent and the desserts some of the best around. Jackie Brister and his crew did a really fine job on getting the fish cooked. The temperature on Friday was hot and humid, but there was plenty of shade under the big trees and a really nice breeze which made it cool.

Bill Price made the trip to Round Rock to the Scott and White Pain Clinic last week. They fixed him up with a shot to his back and he has seen some vast improvement. He will be going back again next month for a follow up.

Rufus Cobern received a good report on his visit to Scott and White in Temple where tests were run. B.F. Underwood was reported to have taken ill while on a trip to Greenville and ended up in the intensive care unit there.

School is out for the summer and that means one or two things. The kids are visiting grandparents or going to summer camps. Jane Clark is holding a sort of summer camp for grand kids. Right now Silas and Levi Clark are visiting and the two Houdyshell boys Andrew and A.J. are also staying with Jane. Earlier the Messer children Jordan and Jaylee were visitors for a while. It is good to know that Jane is up to taking care of her grand children.

Rebecca Dowdy of Bryan is visiting her grand parents Phil B and Winnie Lou McCoury. Justin McCoury of Bryan was in over the weekend and attended the fish fry at the camp ground Saturday.

Rufus and Tommye Cobern were in Round Rock at the McNeill auditorium for a ballet dance recital to watch granddaughter Ashley Chalfant of Cedar Park perform. Also attending was grand mother Jan Chalfant along with parents Jeff and Tanya. After the recital the families ate at Lubys before returning to the Bend. Tommie reported that Ashley will be starting riding lessons and she was thrilled after learning that she will be brushing the horse’s teeth, but not at all pleased after hearing that she will also have to pick up the horse’s poop. Who would ? Ashley is learning that you have to take the good with the bad in life.

Lola Morris was in to see Dr. Lane Monday afternoon and also visited with Dr. Nguyen. She received a good report from Dr. Lane on the monitor that she wore for 24 hours.

Happy birthday wishes go out to Zachary Stokes who will celebrate a birthday June 19, Colby Stokes who will celebrate a birthday June 20, Sean Nixon will celebrate a birthday June 22, Erin Henniger whose birthday is June 23.

Congratulations goes out to Joe and Elizabeth Tamez, Jr. who will celebrate an anniversary June 20 and to Greg and LaVada McCoury who will celebrate their anniversary June 21.
