First United Methodist Church San Saba Welcomes New Pastor

On June 14th, the San Saba First United Methodist Church welcomed newly appointed pastor, Ms. Debby Lake. She is a native Texan and grew up in Houston, Texas and Galveston, Texas, where she enjoyed a passion for fishing and the coastal waters. She attended the University of Texas at Austin in 1971, where she received a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. rd Street at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday mornings. Sunday school is held at 9:00 a.m. All are invited to experience the risen Christ in worship with us at First United Methodist Church!

In the following years, Pastor Debby enjoyed being a stay-at-home mom to her two children, Adrienne and Eric, pursued a real estate career in the greater Houston and Austin areas, and was also a co-owner of an asbestos abatement company in Austin.

She entered the Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary in 1996 from which she graduated in 1999 and was ordained as a full Elder in the United Methodist Church in 2004. She has served as Pastor at churches including Berkely United Methodist Church in Austin, First United Methodist Church in Sabinal, Ingleside United Methodist Church, and First United Methodist Church in Cuero; has served as the President of the Ministerial Alliance in both Sabinal and Cuero, and as a member of the District Committee on Church Building and Location in both the Kerrville and Corpus Christi districts. She also currently serves on several conference level committees for the Southwest Texas Conference of The United Methodist Church. Pastor Debby’s hobbies include fishing, reading, and playing bridge in addition to caring for her two Shih Tzu puppies.

Her daughter Adrienne, and husband Brett, live in Georgetown, Texas; while her son Eric, his wife Michele and their daughters Ashiley and Madison, live in Cedar Park, Texas. She greatly enjoys being a grandparent in addition to seeing her own children be good parents. For this, she says, she has been richly blessed.

Pastor Debby and the members of The First United Methodist Church San Saba would like to invite you to come and join them for worship and fellowship at the beautiful historic church on the corner of W.
