The San Saba Ladies Golf Association met June 3, 2010 for the monthly business meeting with the President, Anita Miles, calling the meeting to order with prayer led by Hattie Rogers. In the absence of the Secretary, Jo Anne Hardy, there were no minutes read. Bobbie Churchill, Treasurer, gave the financial report and also gave the financial report for the Fall 4 Lady Pecan Classic Tournament. Sandee Hartley, Traveling 4-Ball Chair, gave a report on the 4-Ball tournament for June which will be in San Saba on June 23, 2010.

The meeting adjourned with Anita Miles, substituting for the June Chair, Jo Anne Hardy, calling for a game of best ball between two teams that competed against each other in the last tournament. Sandee Hartley, Becky Hardin, and Janet Hoyt defeated Anita Miles, Hattie Rogers, and Dorothy Sterner by one stroke. It was a grudge match that the losers are demanding a return match, as soon as possible. The loosing team did score the only birdie of the day!

Bobbie Churchill and Pat Ribb rode with the ladies and encouraged them during play and did lunch. It was a great day with fun in the sun!

Our own Rick Baskin made his third hole in one on June 3, 2010 on hole #15! This was his second hole in one on that hole. He described it as a ‘thing of beauty’ but his partner and co-hort, Buddy Adams, had a different description. Rick is a past Club Champion, Board Member, a great golfer and has always supported the San Saba River Golf Course in every way. Congratulations to Rick!

Betty Ann Johnson will be catering the Traveling 4-Ball Tourney and we will have visiting ladies from all the courses near by and it will be a really fun event that you don’t want to miss! Mark your calendars and sign up early.

It was great to see Sissy Williams and her husband, Brad Williams, at the course this past week. Sissy is new to golf and has great potential. We hope to have her as a new ladies’s club member very soon. It makes us so happy to see new players on our course. If you haven’t tried golf you should! It’s healthy, fun, motivating, invigorating, frustrating, satisfying, and who doesn’t like to be "swinging"!
