Local first grader gets to be a weatherman for a day
Thursday, June 3, 2010 • Posted June 3, 2010

Local first grader, Dillon Brister, recently got to do something most others only dream about, he was a weatherman for a day! Dillon is a 6 yr old, homeschooled student through Texas Tech University ISD (TTUISD) in Lubbock, and for his science project, interviewed News Channel 10 meteorologist Lon Curtis. On Monday, Dillon spent time in the news studio with Mr. Curtis, asking him a series of questions about his job, weather and even stood in front of the "green digital screen" where Mr. Curtis and Rusty Garrett conduct the weather while on air. Both Dillon and Lon Curtis have a love for science, but at the end of the interview, what did they end up talking about? Dinosaurs! Mr. Curtis told Dillon that he is very well-mannered, polite & intelligent. He said that Dillon is welcome at the studio anytime, and Dillon told him he can come out to his Ranch in Bend to ride horses with him anytime too! Dillon is the son of Michael & Gennifer Brister of Bend.
