Goldthwaite area Farmers Market to open June 5

Official notification has been received from the Texas Department of Agriculture that the Goldthwaite Area Farmers Market has been approved. The first Market will be held Saturday, June 5, 2010 in the Goldthwaite City Park and each Saturday thereafter until September 2010. Selling of produce and/or handmade arts and crafts created by the member or his family will begin at 8:00 AM and end at 12:00 P.M.

Who can sell at the Market? Eligible members are members who have completed and submitted their application, have paid the annual application/membership fee of $35.00, are current on their stall fees of $5.00 for each week that you participate, live within a 75 mile radius of Goldthwaite and abide by the Rules and Regulations of the Goldthwaite Area Farmer’s Market. The initial fee of $35 includes your first stall fee of $5.

Produce sold at the Market must be Texas grown only. Produce can be raised or grown by the member, his or her family or employees. All items sold as organic must meet the requirements of the National Organic Program. All products sold at the Market are subject to local health and state licensing regulations. Members are responsible for obtaining all applicable licenses and must have them available for review or posting at the Market. Live animals may not be sold at the Market.

Applications can be picked up in Goldthwaite at Pecans.com (Front and Fourth Street), Mills County General Store, RRR Feed, Live Oak Nursery and S&S Supply. The application and $35 membership fee will be collected on June 5, 2010 before you set up. You may also pick up an application on the morning of June 5, 2010. Stall locations will be on a first come, first serve basis.
