Terry Shanks

Terry Shanks, 83, passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2010, at his residence in San Saba, San Saba County, Texas. Terry was born April 25, 1927, in Bryson, Texas to Jesse Lee Shanks and Fannie Terry Shanks. He married Jo Ann Humphrey on April 4, 1952, in Houston, Texas.

Terry served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He was a rancher and carpenter for many years.

Terry is survived by his wife, Jo Ann Shanks of San Saba; his son Gary Shanks and his wife Christine of Hamilton; his daughters Pam Shanks of Frisco; and Lisa Eckols also of Frisco. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Tanner Shanks, Chad Eckols, Ty Moore, and Misty Beasley; three great-grandchildren; one brother, Jack Dempsey Shanks and his wife Shirley of Livingston; an aunt, Babe Weaver of Baytown; and many nieces and nephews.

Terry was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Larry Shanks; and one sister, Lura Amonett.

Services were held Thursday May 20, 2010, at 10:00 AM at the Adams Cemetery in San Saba County, Texas, with Reverend Sam Crosby, Officiating.

Interment followed at the Adams Cemetery.

The family requests that memorials be made to the Humane Society.

Funeral Services under the direction of Howell-Doran Funeral Home.
